I really enjoyed this months challenge and will definitely be repeating it in the future - what do you think?
I love all the secrets coming out, the reaching and searching inside yourself, revisiting your past to discover who you are today.
I have loved all the wonderful old images, the beautifully personal, heartwrenching and funny, sweet and dark stories that everyone has shared this month.
I was about 3/4 through my “formula” for getting my weekly picks when I had to leave to do dinner for the fam. When I got on the computer 5 hours later all my windows are gone….so I don’t know if the got shut down accidentally, or someone had to reboot, or what, but all my work is gone:( Soooooo off the top of the dome here are 2:
I just love the image of her mama….so pretty, in one of my favorite color combos! I wish I knew how to do it but it is just gorgeous. She was inspired by Le Pas Cool who you’ve GOT to check out!!!
Click on the link please….he is comparing his inspiration board of his youth to his inspiration board of today (this is the youth one) He also has links to his flickr page with notes about all the different things on his board! So fun!
Okay soooooo, I’ll get back on this tomorrow. If you want to check out some of my million hairstyles since I got married, HERE I am!
I thought these 2 images were so sweet…mom’s sharing their past with their children!
This one is from grrltravels…sharing her past through photos, and I’m sure lots of questions and answers for the kids!
And HulaSeventy sharing all of her charm bracelets with her daughter. I love that look of wonder and fascination on her daughter’s face!
I figure if lots o’ Photoshopping isn’t stretching the concept, then a non-photo portrait isn’t, either. (Don’t worry. I’ll only ask you to suspend disbelief while I totally cheat this once.)
I want you to touch me with your hands
Or ignore me so that I’ll know
You’re gone, I want you to flip on
My light at 4 a.m. or else let me
Really rest this time, hours in a row,
The thick kind, the dream sleep.
If you rode with me to Saturday yard sales
I could remind you of some of the things
You made, stained bibs and orange lipsticks,
Hot rollers and mirrors leaning on oak trees.
We’d paw through them together, you
Whispering the story of the cowboy lamp,
The rug, how the lives twisted on and under them.
I would limit my questions. I wouldn’t give you away.
Remember when I stepped on the nail?
Was that an act of you, because
I’d been lying and smoking
And I was only nine? My treehouse, years
Earlier, I’d cussed there too. Did you
Make that boy crazy enough to hurt me
As a lesson in advance about s-e-x?
I know you want me to weep with gratitude
For replacing my blood with your son’s,
Almost like a human father, changing
The oil in his daughter’s car, it allows him
To remain his creator forever,
To place her in his pocket and forget her.
I don’t know what is wrong, but, I finally got the permalink thing figured out, but now I can’t post the actual pictures…grrrrrrrrrr!!! But the names are hightlighted, so you can link over from there.
Brooklyn Mama -Best Story I had to pick this one, because my daughter was taking a musical theater class and doing ‘Annie’ at the same age Brooklyn Mama was! lol! But the BEST part is how she has come full circle with her singing, and is getting back into it again. She has been accepted into 2 chorale groups!!! Congrats!
SouleMama - Best Creative Interpretation She has turned a picture of her and her mother into a painting. Beautiful!
Michelle(verbalblog) - Originality Looking back at momentos of a marriage that she is no longer in, has come to peace with, and takes pleasure in looking at these things, all without seeming the least bit vengful! (Probably a better woman than I am!)
Wannabe Hippie - Challenge Interpretation A great picture of her Great-Great-Grandpa Wilbur in 1909…sitting in a car! I didn’t even know they actually had cars in 1909! lol! What an old picture, and in great shape, too! Check it out…don’t you think she looks just a little like him??? rofl!
{thru my eyes} - Catherine Mims A wonderful collage of family pictures!
Hi again.Has this week been as hard on you as it has been on me? Meet me behind the gym after school and we’ll kick January 15-21st’s rear.
Thank the Lord for things like auto-portraiture to make it all bearable.
Best Photo:
While not technically along the January theme, I love Christi’s representation of her old demons coming to claim her (that can be a personal history theme, right? RIGHT?!)
Best Story: SentimentalButCrazy told a story of her parents,
and how she is a product of both.
There’s also a hot man in a speedo.
Most Creative Interpretation:
I really like how Athena showed us her family tree through the exuberantly giggly faces of her siblings and a reflection of REAL TREE BRANCHES. Dang, guys, the creativity kills me.
Hottest Picture:
Jenn was so cool in High School that she imitated Wilson-Phillips in her spare time. Hotttt.
*Thank God It’s Friday Because I Would Punch My Boss In The Neck If It Were Thursday!
And Total Glamor here ahh what those days where like
And this one is the one that must be claimed. Somewhere in my searching I wrote something wrong and couldn’t find the owner of this one again. This one is the most touching sweet demonstration of siblings at there best.
Well I know I did something wrong like none of the links link to the exact post but rather the entire blog and I am sure there will be other mistakes along the way. But Kath has been so forgiving for all of our mistakes eand I truely enjoyed my ramblings through blogs last night. So thank you everyone for sharing.
