hi all. i’m nicole, or nikki c, or sometimes everything girl. i am pleased to be one of the new contributors here at spc. i have been participating for just over a year now and think i have only missed a week or two here or there. i absolutely love the idea that sparked this whole community and enjoy looking at everyone’s photographs each week. i will be picking my friday faves the first week every month and can’t wait to get started. i will be officially beginning next week… but i wanted to share my favorite image from this week. something softened inside of me when i looked at this photo. it’s lovely…
I know, that’s a bit of a cheat (especially since I’m actually not the one who made it). What can I say, I’m a bit of a fan of The Simpsons and I wanted to mark the opening of the movie (which is not bad).
But that’s not why I’m here. Being one of the new authors on the blog, I guess I have to introduce myself. But that could be done, in a way, by linking to my SPC posts or this one. So I’ll just go with the broad strokes: I live in Montreal although I’d prefer to live by a lake; I like words, to the point of studying them, and making a job of them — and liking them still; I couldn’t live without a creative outlet, be it writing or making jewelry, furniture or websites; I’m always curious (sometimes curiouser); and I trow a mean Tarot.
I don’t want to say too much about what I have planned; suffice it to say it’s a segment I call “Sunday Stories,” and it’s a bit of a dare.
My name is Joelene, I reside here, and post pictures here. I am a californian, a blogger, and an aspiring photographer. I craft, create, and daydream as often as I can. I am a knitter, who is currently in love with small needles and knitting socks. I am in love with my best friend, married almost 5 year. I am keeper of an amazing little dog, who makes me laugh daily.
I am excited to contribute to SPC. I enjoy looking through the links each week. I love the honesty and the amazing creative interpretations I see here. And I am glad I can be a part of this community.
Hi everyone. My name is Elizabeth Booth (a.k.a. Elizaboothy) and I’ve just signed on as a regular contributor to SPC. I’ve been posting self portraits since February, which coincided with the first birthday of my daughter. Somehow surviving the first year as a new mom gave me the courage/creative kick to share pictures of myself with strangers.
A little about myself: I’m a stay-at-home mom/freelance writer (my background is in music journalism) who recently moved from Toronto, Ontario to Calgary, Alberta. I’m fascinated with the way that SPC gives regular people the chance to be the star of their own little space and also forces all of us to put ourselves into positions of bravery and self-revelation. So, I’m really looking forward to contributing to this project. If you’re interested in my own portraits, I blog at elizaboothy.blogspot.com.
Hi Self Portrait Challengers, my name is Michele and I’ll be here every Thursday.
I’m a wife and stay at home mom. When I’m not chasing around my toddler and prying buttons out of her mouth I like to squeeze in doing stuff like quilting and using my camera. Those little bits of creativity help me remember that I’m more than a mom.
I started participating in Self Portrait Tuesday last November after following a link on someone’s blog to the old SPT site. I loved the idea of it and was fascinated by everybody’s interpretations of the monthly themes so I decided to give it a go. After that, I was hooked. It is now a compulsion. I HAVE to post. Even when I’m having a difficult time with a theme, I force myself to do something and post it. And for that, I’m grateful to SPC.
I’m very excited to be here, to be a part of the wonderful Self Portrait Challenge, and I’m looking forward to scouring all of your entries and sharing my weekly picks with you.
I’ve written so much about my life and myself on the internet that it’s hard to “introduce” myself again and be even slightly original, but because I am so excited about being part of this project - I’m going to give it a go.
I’m Carletta and quickly leaving my twenties behind. I live with my husband in the hustle and bustle of Northern Virginia; a place I never thought a small-town girl like myself would ever end up. I love reading, pop music, kites, having my back scratched and reality television. I have an irrational fear of roller coasters, bridges, bugs, running out of toilet paper and Jerry Springer.
I write about my life online, something I still can’t explain to most people. What I do know is that it keeps me sane and sanity is a very good thing. I love to take pictures because seeing a moment captured forever seems almost surreal to me and I adore that. Sometimes, pictures say things that words simply can not - what’s not to love about that?
I am a spoilt young lady at home in the suburbs. My subjects that I (pretend to!) rule are:
A renegade 2 year old
A chaotically genius partner
A musical bird that answers to Big bird
A crazy 25 kg puppy named Piper
Of course, I think that ultimately they have the control. Until we get to:
SELF PORTRAIT CHALLENGE
I’ve been involved with Self Portrait challenge for a few weeks and love the freedom that it gives me in finding little pieces of myself that I’ve manage to lose amongst the chaos that is my life. I am studying business at a local university and am polishing up a degree in psychology degree at another. I love being involved in everything and am really looking forward to contributing a new element to Self Portrait Tuesday!
Hello. I’m Rebecca, or Bekka. Sometimes Becky to my family. I respond to almost any name. But now, I’m responding to Contributor. Each Sunday I’ll select a Featured Artist, share several of their self-portraits, and tell you why they’re participating.
Besides all that, I’m a librarian and mother of two dogs, wife to one husband, daughter and daughter-in-law to several folks, and a half-sister (don’t really count being a step-sister; there’s nothing to it), godmother to two boys, and finally, an aunt to another boy.
Clicking through everyone’s photos each week is so exciting. I love seeing how differently you interpret the challenge and how much you share of your lives. I’ve always loved photography and annoy my family and friends by pulling out my camera to capture the most mundane (to them) things: Like food or whatever piqued my interest at that moment.
I’m looking forward to learning more about all you artists. Let the fun begin!
First, I have to say that week by week I am constantly amazed at the creativity I see in everyone’s pictures, and in the stories behind them. It’s amazing the amount of time I can spend getting temporarily lost in each of your lives.
Hello everyone, my name is Amy. I’m a wife, a mom, and I attempt to hold a job down on the side. In years past I’ve spent time as a drafter, a web designer, a hack programmer, and now for a complete change, a real estate agent. (where I find that I enjoy making the ads and keeping up the website the most… go figure)
My husband is in the military so we have moved from our home and families and are traveling and living where ever dictated. One of my main focuses is maintaining contact with all of those people we’ve left behind. I try to stay honest and I don’t post anything that portrays our family as this perfect golden entity. We all have laundry, dirty dishes, and toilets to scrub… double chins, roots, and wrinkles around the eyes. The way I see it is that there is either no ‘normal’ or that we are ALL ‘normal’… Why fake the one life you’ve got?
On a less ‘deep’ note… I think you’ll find me to be a bit more lighthearted than this post sounded. I’m pretty sarcastic and I try my best to poke fun at all the trash life might send your way occasionally. I’m not a writer by trade, nor a photographer. I don’t claim an institutionally educated eye for either subject. I have an open mind to the various interpretations of each challenge and I’m really enjoying how personal these projects become to everyone.
hello, all my self portrait tuesday people. I am andrea of hula seventy and will be contributing (humbly and with much love) to all this fantastic self portrait tuesdayness. firstly, I am completely honored. secondly, these are the nuts and bolts of who I am:
I jumped on the self portrait tuesday bandwagon back in august but my first took-it-myself-FOR-REAL shot happened a couple of weeks later. and then I was hooked. what started out as a whim has now become an incredible weekly personal exercise in creativity. and SPT people– you continue to amaze me each week, what with all the fresh/gorgeous/brillant/funny images and words that come flying from your minds and into this strangely wonderful, intangible little internet community.
can’t wait to feast my eyes on the upcoming goods. hope you dig my two cents.
