I use a Canon 400D SLR. and I use the P setting … unless I need the flash because I’m often taking my photos after work and at night. I just pick it up and shoot! Lens is a 17-85mm zoom and I also have a 50mm.
I used to have the Canon 300D SLR (until December 2006, when I sold it and bought the 400D) and I also have a Fuji pocket digital which I use from time to time … but currently the batteries are dead :) The Fuji has less settings : flash on or flash off  and a shutter delay … but that just makes self portraits all the more fun because you’re never quite sure what you’ll get in the photo LOL

I love my Nikon D-50.
I use it mostly point and shoot despite a photography class that tried to teach me otherwise.
I usually shoot at home, but anywhere I am inspired. Bathroom, bedroom, yard, living room, out and about…
Fun, fun, fun.

I use a Canon Powershot G2, my dad’s old camera that he gave me when I started blogging and decided that I might need some pictures. It’s a pretty old and low pixel (4) camera compared to what I’d ultimately like to be using but I decided that I wouldn’t upgrade until I had pushed it as far as I could.

I haven’t moved beyond the autoshoot functions yet. Most times I hold the camera in front of me, this camera has a swivelling view finder that lends itself well to self portraits. Sometimes I use a tripod and the remote control but not as often as I should because I’m always squeezing photgraphy (and blogging) into the cracks of my day.

Often I have a story and picture in mind. Sometimes I have the picture first and see where that takes me. I tend to take alot of pictures quite quickly and then choose the one I like best and edit it a little. Mostly just cropping and a little light adjustment in ACD. Sometimes I do a bit in photshop elements but again, I like quick and photshop on my PC is slow as. I also mostly shoot with the vivid colour option just becuase it tends to come out closer to how I see things.

I have a Canon Powershot S3IS. I am not happy with this camera…I sold my Nikon D70 thinking that I wasn’t utilizing it the way I should and didn’t realize how many of its features I depended upon until I downgraded to a point’n’shoot. Ugh. (The camera itself is great if you just want something small to take snapshots with, and the prints are awesome as well…but I’m having the worst time using it for the types of shots I like to take. And holy crap do I miss a REAL manual focus! And optical view finder! And a choice of focal areas! And…well, the list could go on & on…)

I’m hoping to get back into a DSLR within the next 6 months…I feel like I’m wearing a shirt that’s 3 sizes too small when I use the S3IS!

I use my 3 year old Pentax Optio 30 - pretty low tech. It works well though, with the only constraint being that I just can’t get the hang of artificial light so I’m always hanging around waiting for some nice daylight.

I use Nikon Coolpix L1. It certainly a great camera for point and shoot.. I think there is a lot more you can do with it but I just don’t know how… It is moderately priced…

I’ve got a Nikon D80 which I am very much in love with. When I’m taking a portrait type shot, I usually keep it in aperature priority with a fairly low ISO and the biggest aperature setting whatever lens I’m using has. I finally bought a remote control which has made taking self-portraits much easier.

I have a Nikon D80 which I am totally in love with. For the majority of my self portraits I usually select a large aperature and a very low ISO, but it really depends on what I’m trying to achieve. The smartest purchase I made was the $15 remote.

I used the cheap samsung. doesnt do much, and the pictures don’t come out as clear and pretty as I would like. but it works for now. I’m hoping to save up and get a decent starter camera, anyone have any good ideas?

nikon D50 is what i use! i don’t have a regular setting. it depends on my mood and the lighting.
i recently bought a tripod and aquired an external flash…haven’t had much time to play around, but i plan on digging in soon!

I have an Optio W10, waterproof, that is very easy to use. Small, light, accessible. I never use the flash.

I also use Canon Rebel xt. and the ISO is usually set on 800 or 1600, because I live in the land of constant sky skies. I usually have to change to settings depending on where and what I am shooting.

That remote that bazl was mentioning sounds like a great idea. My husband says he has one for his canon slr, hmmm, wondering if that will cross over to mine? ;)

How does one join the Self Portrait Challenge? This is the day my new SLR arrived and I already have some cool pics I could share.
