You Make Me Feel Like…

This week, I’m running very short on time. So short that yesterday I knew I would be cutting it close to posting my five favorites, so four wonderful women came to the rescue and gave me their faves for the week. Thank you so much to the four generous women who lent their time, hands (and eyes) to choosing the picture(s) that spoke to them the most.

Justine chose this photo because: “This photo made me feel jubilant ( happy wasn’t good enough) from the moment I saw it. Her smile speaks a million words and the way her necklace glistens and the sun sparkles in window just added to the beauty of the moment. It is hard to portray love in a photo and this one does it perfectly.”

Lainie also chose this same picture as one of her faves and this to say about it, “Elly-Jane has submitted a simply divine photo of herself and her husband. It looks as if they are dancing and she is laughing at something funny he has whispered in her ear or that his kiss has taken her by surprise. The use of black and white and the light shining behind them makes the photo quite timeless. This photo makes my feel wonderfully jealous of the love and laughter this couple share.”

Lainie also chose this photo. She says, “Another favourite of mine. Julie has created a beautifully honest piece that shares so much about herself as a person. The composition is quite interesting with the choice of black and white perfect for this image. This photo makes me look forward to being a mum.

Debberoo chose this picture and here is what she had to say about it, “What I loved about this photo was that it, captured emotion, it caught one of those moments, it connected me to that emotion, it made me feel maternal. It shows a moment so tender, so caring.”

“When I first saw it I thought it was taken in a hospital or a doctors office, I could see that the child was being comforted but I could also see that the woman was concerned. I was worried it was bad news.”

“Then I read the description and it reminded me of all the “youngest” children I have baby sat who so miss their older siblings when they are at school. Who know they are being left behind in some way, a loved brother or sister moving out of their shared baby world into the world of school. I loved to see how those little ones faces would light up with joy, pure love and adoration when their older sibling came home.”

“I wanted to reach out and hug that little girl and tell her it would be okay, show how the hands will look on the clock when its time for her brother to come home.”

This is one of two of Carrie’s picks. Carrie said, “I can almost hear this picture, the giggles of the woman, the rowdiness of her nephews. It captures the playfulness, the silliness, that is the most glorious part of a relationship between an aunt and her nephews. I appreciate that there is nothing halted - no one stopping to smile for the camera, or made to be still for the shot. It’s one instance, literally a snapped shot, of what I’m sure was a giggly, wiggly, goofy afternoon. This picture makes me want to be in the yard with them, doing nothing in particular - no agenda, no cares, maybe having lemonade a little later, then a nap.”

And this is Carrie’s other favorite. About this she had to say, “This photograph is so poignant. The new father is holding his child like the most precious treasure that she is. I can tell that he is in awe of the magic that is a child.”

“His body language shows that he is transfixed, feasting on what truly is a miracle, his miracle, flesh from his flesh. It’s all the more evocative because of differences in their bodies, their skin - his tattoed arm, angular bones, long hair while the baby opposes with soft curvy subtleness, sweet flesh rolls, peach fuzz head. Even the background is perfection; it’s a door, just barely opened, semming to signify her brand new place on this planet and all the possibilites that await her.”
