anon on paper

Not showing all of who you are is challenging. And when it comes to self-portraits, all on paper is the woman to beat.

And, there’s no guessing as to why she does self-portrait challenge:

I decided to take part in Self Portrait Tuesday because I think it adds to the initial purpose of this diary.

But then she goes on for several paragraphs to explain more about her reasons. One is that she was phobic about having her photo taken as a child. The rest? You’ll have to click and read it yourself.

First self-portrait ever featured her eye. Then, this week, her eye again.

I think finding other ways to show something that you think represents different aspects of who you are, rather than just showing your literal portrait, might be more creative. And then there’s the whole attempt to keep some sort of anonymity thing going. There’s always that.

She fears that all on paper is turning into a photoblog. What’s so bad about that? Almost every week her photos are featured on the site. She’s on to something.

And something about seeing myself in the mirror in a dress, (a very rare sight) made me really see myself very differently. It’s corny, I know, but my adolescence is gone and behind me for good. I can only become an adult from here on out.
